"Black Power Salute" gold medal for auction

At the 1968 Summer Olympics, gold medal winner Tommie Smith and Bronze medal winner John Carlos gave the "Black Power Salute"after being awarded their medals.  Smith's gold medal and his running shoes are up for auction, however, he claimed to have lost the black glove years ago.  That Olympics is one major moment in our country's history and in african-american history.  Probably just as important as when Jessie Owens won in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.  Just imagine if Hitler was at the '68 Olympics, it would've been World War 3.
I believe there wasn't that much contreversy as people say there was.  In America we preach freedom of speech and that is what Smith and Carlos did.  Also, it was wrong for the Olympic committee to revoke their medals that they worked hard for, and didn't even cheat. Then, they sent a message to the world about civil rights in our country and where it stood at that time.  This moment will stand the test of time.
